The Computer Controlled Thermal Solar Energy Unit, “EESTC”, is a system that transforms solar energy into usable thermal energy. It uses the thermosiphon solar system to heat water or the traditional pumping system.

Description

The Computer Controlled Thermal Solar Energy Unit, “EESTC,” is a system that converts solar energy into usable thermal energy. It utilizes a thermosiphon solar system to heat water or a traditional pumping system. In both cases, the thermal energy absorbed is simulated using solar radiation, provided by a panel with powerful light sources.

The EESTC unit consists of the following main components:

  1. Thermal Solar Collector
  2. Accumulator Tank
  3. Solar Simulator
  4. Pumping System

The thermal solar collector is mounted on an aluminum frame, with fluid (water) circulating through copper tubes. Its design ensures efficient absorption of solar energy through its optimized surface geometry.

The accumulator tank is coated with an anti-corrosive material and features a computer-controlled heating element. It also includes a safety device to prevent overheating.

The solar simulator uses lamps that emit radiation similar to sunlight, which is measured by a radiation sensor. The light is absorbed by the solar collector, converting it into heat that is transferred to the heat transfer fluid. The solar simulator can simulate three different configurations:

  • All lamps turned on
  • Half of the lamps turned on in a zigzag pattern
  • Only one lamp turned on

Additionally, the unit includes a computer-controlled pump to circulate the heat transfer fluid through the accumulator tank via forced convection.

The system is equipped with sensors and meters to record key parameters, such as temperature, flow, and radiation. Safety valves are also included to protect against overpressure.

The unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), which includes:

  • The unit itself
  • A Control Interface Box
  • A Data Acquisition Board
  • Computer Control, Data Acquisition, and Data Management Software Packages

These components work together to control and monitor the process and all relevant parameters.
