Description
The Geared Lifting Unit, “MEE”, has been designed to study a simple lifting mechanism and its use to determine the speed ratio, its mechanical advantages and efficiency.
The unit is mounted on a metal structure with bearings that support the gear drive shafts. Four gears with different numbers of teeth are available, allowing the simulation of a single gear, a single gear system and a double gear system.
In addition, two interchangeable pulleys of different sizes are available to study their influence on lifting, from which different masses are suspended to observe how the efficiency of each gear system varies.
