Description

mall, portable, USB-powered 4-channel data collection system for sound and vibration measurement. SIRIUS mini offers an amazing 160 dB dynamic range and is the perfect portable vibration analyzer or acoustic noise measurement device.

Compact and Portable Noise and Vibration Analyzer

SIRIUS mini is a very compact and portable data acquisition system. SIRIUS mini is USB powered and can simply be powered from your laptop computer. The 4-channel instrument is perfectly suitable for a range of different test and measurement applications, such as:

  • Acoustic noise measurements (sound level, sound intensity, octave band analysis …)
  • Vibration measurements and analysis
  • Voltage measurements
  • Rotating machinery analysis (order tracking analysis, FFT, …)
  • Modal testing

SIRIUS mini can also easily be used as a portable vibration analyzer for preventive maintenance or similar field measurements.

Analog and Digital Inputs

Analog Inputs

SIRIUS mini offers 4 high dynamic analog inputs based on the SIRIUS® DualCoreADC® technology. These inputs offer astonishing 160 dB dynamic range. All four analog channels can directly measure voltage and IEPE/ICP® signals. This offers perfect compatibility for connecting IEPE/ICP® accelerometers, microphones, and/or voltage sensors at the same time.

Digital Counter Inputs

SIRIUS mini offers up to one counter/encoder/digital input based on Dewesoft’s patented SuperCounter® technology. This gives you the ability to connect all sorts of counter, encoder, or tacho sensors to precisely measure speed, RPM, angle, and frequency. The same counter input can be used to measure 3 digital input lines.

Sound and Noise Recorder and Analyzer

SIRIUS mini is the perfect data acquisition instrument for sound and noise recording. Input amplifiers offer an amazing 160 dB dynamic range. You can directly connect IEPE/ICP microphones and sound intensity probes. SIRIUS mini is bundled with award-winning DewesoftX data acquisition software which features powerful analysis features for sound and noise (NVH) measurements. DewesoftX offers features for applications like:

  • Sound level
  • Sound intensity
  • Sound quality
  • Octave band analysis
  • Reverberation time RT60

SIRIUS® signal conditioning technology

Data acquisition systems are built around our world-class SIRIUS® signal conditioning technology and offer the same top-performing technologies:

  • DualCoreADC® technology: high-dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
  • SuperCounter® technology: high-speed synchronized angle and speed measurement.
  • Galvanic isolation: channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground isolation for best signal quality and safety.

Note: galvanic isolation does not apply to SIRIUS mini and MINITAURs instruments.

DualCoreADC® signal conditioning technology

The DualCoreADC® technology solves often-faced problems with signal measurement:

  • signal input overload,
  • noise, and
  • artificial frequencies in the signal caused by aliasing.

The input signal can be higher than expected by the signal conditioner (out-of-range) and therefore clipped by the ADC. This will result in an incorrect measurement and will require you to repeat the test all over again.

DualCoreADC technology prevents these problems. Each channel amplifier has two A/D converters that measure the high and the low gain of the input signal in parallel. This results in the full possible measuring range of the sensor and prevents the signal from being clipped.

With DualCoreADC technology, SIRIUS data acquisition systems achieve more than 130 dB signal-to-noise ratio and more than 160 dB in dynamic range. This is 20x better than 24-bit DAQ systems and 20x less noise.

SuperCounters®: precise speed and angle measurement with counter and encoder sensors

Dewesoft data acquisition systems utilize a patented and registered trademark technology called SuperCounter®.

Counter inputs can measure the RPM and angle of rotating machines. In comparison to standard counters, which only output integer numbers one sample later (e.g. 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4), the Dewesoft SuperCounter inputs are able to extract accurate values like 1.37, 1.87, 2.37, etc. fully synchronized for time and amplitude.

This is done by measuring the exact time of the rising edge of the signal with an additional counter. Our SuperCounter inputs work on a 102.4 MHz time base, independent of the current analog sampling rate.

Counter inputs are fully synchronized with analog, CAN bus, and other data sources to enable easy applications like balancing, order tracking, and torsional vibrations.

IEPE Sensor Check LED Indicator: Always Be Sure if Your Sensors Are Working

SIRIUS MINI instrument has a convenient LED ring around the input BNC connector. When an IEPE sensor (e.g. accelerometer or microphone) is connected, the device will constantly check the current flow to the sensor and will turn the LED bright green or bright red, depending on if the sensor’s impedance is okay.

With the LED indicator you have immediate visual feedback if all your connected IEPE sensors and the sensor cable are working correctly. This is just another small but very useful detail that makes your life as a test engineer a little bit easier.

USB Powered From Any USB Source

SIRIUS mini does not require any external power supplies or adapters. Simply plug it into your PC laptop computer via the included USB cable, and it will receive enough power for full functionality. Once connected you are ready to start measuring.

USB can provide enough power to power the device itself and also provide excitation to connected IEPE sensors like accelerometers and microphones.

SIRIUS mini package includes two USB cables. One cable is used for data transfer while the other is for powering the device.

Maximum Portability Take It Anywhere

SIRIUS mini is so small and light that you can easily fit it into a laptop bag or backpack:

  • Weight: 0,75 kg (1.6 pounds)
  • Dimension: 146 x 139 x 64 mm (5.75 x 5.47 x 2.52 inch).

But it is not only small and light. SIRIUS mini is also built to last. It features aluminum chassis which is CNC milled out of a single aluminum block.

The chassis and electronics were thoughtfully tested inside our state-of-the-art testing labs. SIRIUS mini has been tested for vibration on the shaker table and impact test machine so that you will be able to work without worries, no matter the environment you are testing in.

SIRIUS® Mini highlights

USB Powered on the Go

SIRIUS mini does not require any external power supply. It can be powered straight from the USB connection, for example, a laptop. Two USB cables are included. One for power, THE second for data transfer.

Small Form Factor

SIRIUS mini is our smallest 4-channel data acquisition system. It fits into one hand, is light, and is easily transported in a backpack. Still, in this small box, you can find the power of a giant.

IEPE and Voltage Inputs

The SIRIUS mini data acquisition system is configured with four high dynamic analog inputs for direct voltage or IEPE/ICP signals. Amplifiers are equipped with two 24-bit Sigma-Delta ADC's with a 200 kHz sampling rate per channel. DualCoreADC® technology offers an astonishing 160 dB dynamic range.

SuperCounter® Inputs

Each counter channel input is capable of three digital inputs, one event counter, encoder, period, pulse-width, duty-cycle, and precise frequency and angle measurement using patented SuperCounter® technology.
